MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

We have some interesting things planned for our chapter this month.  We have a picnic at Big Trees scheduled for June 14, 2001.  Be sure to sign a Liability Release and return it to me as soon as you can.  We also have an event planned at the David Lambert Drop In Center for June 2, 2001.  It will be a combination yard sale, car wash, and hot dog/soda sale.  Please save all your good second hand things and bring them that week to the Drop In Center.  We will not be taking any clothes.  Please make sure anything you donate is clean and unbroken so it will be saleable.

We hope to have someone from the Sheriff’s Department at our June 7th NAMI meeting, so you won’t want to miss it.  We are still trying to recruit new members so as to have more people involved in our activities.  So, if you know of someone who could benefit from our meetings, please invite them.  Jim Caywood and I will be attending a seminar in Sacramento on the 14th of June to learn more about recruiting and keeping new members and about new ways to raise funds.  We will be reporting back to you about that training at the July meeting.
If you have any suggestions for our outings or our meetings, please call me.
Thank You Sincerely,
Jeannette Lambert

SILVER RIBBONS - CAMPAIGN FOR THE BRAIN
(WITH PERMISSION FROM NARSAD ARTWORKS GAZETTE)

Always wear a silver ribbon,
To show you care about someone with a brain disorder!
To help break down barriers to treatment and support!
To help eliminate the stigma against those who suffer!
To show you believe there is hope through education and research!
On September 29, 1999 the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued Registration Number 2,280,629 formally trade marking the Silver Ribbon for: “Promoting public awareness of the need for support of people with brain disorders and disabilities.”  Congratulations and thanks go to Jean Liechty of Newport Beach, California who conceived the idea and has worked for years to bring the program to a reality whose time has come.

If you would like to purchase a Silver Ribbon for $2.00 Please see Jeannette.

WEBSITE OF THE MONTH
here2listen.com

Check out this website for self help quizzes, on-line counseling and a lot of links to articles and other web sites that are informative on the subjects of relationships, anxiety and depression, family life, career and money, and addiction issues.  I looked up anger management and Post  Traumatic Stress Disorder and found out about a new form of therapy called EMDR.  Does anyone know of a local therapist that is trained in EMDR?
If you do let us know, we would like to hear from them at one of our monthly meetings.
